With the year wrapping up and the graduating class of 2022 seniors preparing to start a new journey, here are some important dates for your senior activities and deadlines you don’t want to miss.

First up is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application is due on March 2, 2022.

Higher Education Coordinator, Jimmy Bravo, said that every senior is expected and encouraged to submit one. Financial aid late nights will start on Thursday Feb. 3rd from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you have not completed a financial aid application, make sure you attend.

For those who applied to a 4-year college or university, Bravo added that it is important that you stay on top of your email as many are sending information on how to set up your college portal. In addition, they can also request for additional information with deadlines that can determine your admission.

For community colleges check for deadlines and finish matriculation steps after applying.

Another recommendation from Bravo is to meet with counselors for an education plan you have before registering for classes.

If you have any questions, you can find Bravo in the Higher Education Center.

He concluded, “learn to be independent and advocate for yourself because no one else will. That will help you be successful in succeeding in college.”

Associated Student Body (ASB) advisor, Daniel Tena said, “visit the campus you got accepted in before you start attending it.”

Now, onto the senior activities.

There will be a senior sunset on April 15, 2022, where food will be served, games held, and lots of movies. It is all outdoors following COVID-19 protocols.

On May 14, 2022, is prom, the biggest event of the year for seniors.

And on May 26, 2022, Grad Nite at Disneyland will take place.

Principal Jesse Church extended the deadline to finish paying your senior package and it is now February 11, 2022.

ASB President, Joshua Cruz’s best advice for these events are to, “buy your prom dresses or suits before they go up in price and start saving up money for Grad Nite because Disneyland is expensive.”

He added, “enjoy your time, enjoy your last few months and make it a memorable experience.”

ASB secretary, Allison Elizalde added, “Have fun and enjoy it while it lasts.”

Lastly, May 27, 2022, is the last day of school for seniors. They will receive their yearbooks, mugs, cap and gown, and any awards related to the California Scholarship Federation (CSF), National Honor Society (NHS), and the Seal of Biliteracy. They will also have their pictures taken in their college shirts and panoramic pictures.

This wraps up many senior announcements but remember to keep working hard and finish strong.

As for graduation, the date is to be determined.
