Coming back to in-person learning has allowed sports to be back as well. However, the girls soccer team has had a hard time adjusting due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
According to Coach Sara MacLennan, they lost many players and others have lost practice time due to exposure to COVID-19.
Freshman Jocelyn Carrillo, knows the team has had a rough season.
But she “believes the team is putting in a lot of effort and we are there to have fun,” said Carrillo.
She added that even though they haven’t won a game, “we have heart and passion.”
“The record is not the record we had hoped for but the team has been coming together and working hard all season,” said MacLennan.
Alyssa Padilla, one of the captains for the team, regards her role as tough this year with difficulties that have come with it.
Padilla said, “My role as captain is fun. I try my best to keep everyone’s spirits up.”
“Some difficulties us captains face is trying to get everyone to talk to each other on the field,” she added.
Carrillo as a freshman on the varsity team is enjoying her experience as a first year player.
“It’s been a roller coaster of emotions and events. It is challenging because I’m not as experienced as the other girls,” said Carrillo.
Regardless of all the ups and downs the team has faced, they continue to build friendships and appreciate one another for their hard work and efforts.
“I just appreciate all the players we have available and I love how everyone on the team are friends,” concluded Padilla.
As of Jan. 31, their league record is 4-6-0.

I think that the team did a good job and I know that they have learned from what happened this season and they will use it to their advantage for the next season.

As a player in the team I can agree that this season was really tough for us, especially because we had a lot of players leave due to COVID and that really mixed everything up. Players caught the virus and other girls had to play in their positions not knowing how to do so. Our record was really hard to TOLERATE but that didn’t keep us from having fun. We always tried our best to keep our heads up and support each other through the ups and downs and that’s what kept us going. It doesn’t matter how good or bad the record was what matters is that we all have each others back and work together as a team. I have a good feeling about next season and can’t wait to start again. We’ll miss you seniors!

Although this year wasn’t as they expected they should not loose hope because next year they will comeback stronger! It must be difficult to TOLERATE the pressure that is upon the team. It is about the process and with hard work they will be able to come back for next year. Show the other teams you got this and work hard for what you guys want. As long as their is dedication in something you want you guys will be amazing for the next season! Those who have doubted you guys are INANE and you should be able to prove them wrong for the upcoming season. For the seniors I hope you guys had fun and played your heart out because it s your last year. Therefore good job ladies and see you next season!

Even though the year was tough for the varsity soccer girls because they came back to in-person learning, they still did an amazing job. The Team was able to get as far as they did even though they were under many pressures and their were many ups and downs. I think that the team did a good job and I know that they have learned from what happened this season and they will use it to their advantage for the next season. I know that it must have been hard for the seniors on the team this year because its their last year playing and they just wanted to leave on a good note. I believe that the tea will really bounce back next season.
