James Bond’s Film Continues to Thrill in “No Time to Die”
October 20, 2021
“No Time to Die” is 163 minutes filled with adventure and thrills. Starring Daniel Craig as Bond and co-stars Rami Malek as Safin the villain of the film, Lea Seydoux as Bond’s lady, Lashana Lynch, as the new 007, and Ben Whishaw who plays Q.
The screenplay for the 2021 movie was written by Cary Joji Fukunaga, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and Scott Z. Burns. Billie Eilish wrote the theme song for the James Bond film of the same name. The song won a 2020 Grammy Award for Best Song Written For Visual Media. Originally the film was supposed to premiere April 2020 but was delayed three times, due to the pandemic, before it was released September 28, 2021.
The film starts as Bond is enjoying a peaceful life in Jamaica after leaving the CIA. His peace soon ends as his old CIA friend shows up and asks for help. Their mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns treacherous and escalates quickly. This leads Bond on a quest to find the mysterious villain who is armed with dangerous new technology. Their plan is to blow up the island where the science experiments are being conducted because that is where Safin, the villain, is keeping the DNA bio weapon.
The setting of the film was diverse, it moves from: Matera, Italy, to Norway, Denmark, Jamaica, and London. The set design was very accurate. One scene was supposed to be shot in Cuba but that set was not available, so the production team transformed the U.K. Pinewood Studio into Havana for the scene.
The music in the film was filled with suspense and excitement. The soundtrack artist for “No Time to Die” is Hans Zimmer and Eilish is now the youngest singer to sing an original Bond song. Craig initially didn’t approve of the track at first, he thought it didn’t fit the emotional climax for his last outing as Bond. After the producers listened to the song, they agreed with Craig that it wasn’t earth shattering, and made the volume louder and fixed it up. Later, Craig met with the producers at the studio to listen to the fixed song and ended up loving it.
Overall, I really liked the film. The producers and director planned everything out well and it was not all over the place like some other films. The plot was epic and filled with adventure, and even emotional at times.
I watched this movie with my friend and we both loved it and she had not seen other Bond films. Watch this film, the 163 minutes are well worth it.
