Andrea Albarran

What’s your educational background?

I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor’s in history. I fell in love with teaching students with cognitive disabilities and decided to pursue a teaching credential in special education.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

Life has taught me to do things at my own pace. Do things that you love and don’t let any person interfere with what you really want to do.

What was the moment that you decided to teach?

I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was 5 years old. The difference is that I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher but then I had my own kids and quickly decided that I wanted to teach older students.

What is the main goal you have for your students and how will you try and accomplish them?

The main goal for my students is to make them feel included, safe, and heard. I want to help them grow in areas that most of us take for granted.

What are your hobbies outside of school?

Outside of school, I love to bake and hike.
