With coronavirus cases increasing, amusement parks in California are not opening anytime soon. Amusement parks take a step forward until the county is in a less restrictive COVID-19 rank.
Disneyland/Disney California Adventure, and Knott’s Berry Farm moved onto the state’s most-restrictive purple/widespread tier 1 during a state conference that took place on Monday, November 16.
As of right now, theme parks will remain closed and will not return to full operations until early 2021 or next summer.
However, for Disney fanatics or others that just want a bit of Disney magic again, Downtown Disney has opened a variety of shopping and dining experiences at the Downtown Disney District. As of November 19, 2020, Downtown expanded onto Buena Vista Street in California Adventure for more shopping and dining but all rides remain closed.

As for Knott’s Berry Farm, who has been offering their visitors outdoor food festivals since August 21, the rides themselves remain closed. It is said that the Taste of Merry Farm event at Buena Park will not expect much affection from Orange County’s move to the purple/widespread tier 1.
Some major theme parks have been reopened in the past few months but only for dining and shopping.
With SeaWorld San Diego reopened with limitations and guidelines, they had to temporarily reclose its doors again to visitors because of San Diego also entering the purple/widespread tier 1.

For those extreme thrill coaster fans, you will be happy to know Six Flags Magic Mountain is fully operating for the holidays in Valencia, CA with new COVID-19 safety guidelines for a safer trip. If you are really up for the drive, their Holiday in the Park returns November 20 as a drive-thru experience which features millions of lights, new treats, and some memorable surprises.

Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and knott’s berry farm are gonna be the last ones to open everything up after this pandemic. ” s of right now, theme parks will remain closed and will not return to full operations intill early 2021 or next summer”. although there is drive in events and food festivals at knotts and downtown Disney with stores opened and food. “downtown Disney has opened a variety of shopping and dinning experiences at the downtown Disney district”. Overall there is many other things to do like drive through experience in the holidays with is a good idea for families to feel festive during the pandemic.

The parks coming back limited was a great idea. My mom is a Disney fanatic and was really sad when Disney was closed but when the news reached her about Disney would open downtown Disney for dining ans shopping she was very happy. “As of right now, theme parks will remain closed and will not return to full operations until early 2021 or next summer” as the article said I believe that this may be true that this summer we might get to come back to amusement parks. Also in Six Flags according to the article “If you are really up for the drive, their Holiday in the Park returns November 20 as a drive-thru experience which features millions of lights, new treats, and some memorable surprises.” there will be a drive through experience which I believe is a grand idea and should be a good idea for families that are bored in quarantine.

It is reasonable to deduce that amusement parks should be closed during the world wide pandemic due to the high COVID cases here in the U.S. According to the article, “Disneyland/Disney California Adventure, and Knott’s Berry Farm moved onto the state’s most-restrictive purple/widespread tier 1” both of these popular and big amusement parks are on the states purple widespread tier. Which means they should not be opened in my opinion. I’m glad that they still have small events going on like the food festivals at Knott’s and downtown Disney still having store and food access. Also, in the article it states that “With SeaWorld San Diego reopened with limitations and guidelines, they had to temporarily reclose its doors again to visitors because of San Diego also entering the purple/widespread tier 1.” I’m pretty sad personally because I would go to SeaWorld and take my little cousins over back then so they can have fun. Yet, my safety and the people surrounding me is way more important!
