Since day one of quarantine, I have helped my mom take care of my 13-year-old brother and a 9-month-old nephew. It's been a wild time since the baby is crawling. Even though my brother is big enough, I have to be on him so he can do his chores. There are times where all three of us are just messing around, my brother and I will either just wrestle with each other or play on his Switch. As for the baby, we chase him around and make him laugh. It has certainly been interesting.

A Firsthand Account as Our Newsroom Quarantines

On March 13th, Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) schools closed their doors due to the current pandemic. Since then, students have been in quarantine and it hasn’t been easy.

According to the CDC, in the United States there are 525,704 confirmed COVID-19 cases and the death toll is at 20,486 people. In California, there are 22,583 confirmed cases and 640 deaths according to the Los Angeles Times. Governor Gavin Newsom, with his stay at home order, has canceled school indefinitely, and in SAUSD we still wait to hear if schools will be closed for the rest of the year from Superintendent Jerry Almendarez.

Quarantine to everyone looks a little different, whether it’s catching up on sleep or school work, binging shows, or being with family. Here’s a snapshot of what life is like for the Grizzly newsroom during this time.
