Annually, Santa Ana goes back to their roots to celebrate the Day of the Dead with Noche de Altares. The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday, celebrated on October 31 through November 2, where people “rejoin” with the souls of their deceased loved ones to feast together. It’s a reunion to honor the dead.

2019 Noche de Altares ran from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with people walking down Santa Ana Boulevard and Flower Street, welcomed by cultural performances, live music, and rich food. Families viewed altars made by volunteers to honor the death of loved ones and enjoy the beauty of the festival.
