With all the money you spend for prom, you should know you don’t have to spend a lot on food.

We went to Olive Garden and Norms to see what we were able to get that didn’t break our bank and have the experience of spending time with friends while enjoying good food.

The first place we went to was Olive Garden for our preprom meal. We arrived around 4 p.m. and waited five minutes to be seated. We ordered Chicken Alfredo which was $18.49 and  The Tour of Italy which features: Chicken Parmigiana, Lasagna Classico and their famous Fettuccine Alfredo. The Tour of Italy is priced at $18.99.

Olive Garden used to be located inside MainPlace Mall but they recently relocated across the street in the old McCormick and Schmick’s building. This is due to overcrowding and dated look in their old location.

Their new location offers both indoor and outdoor dining. The building feels classy even before you walk through the front door. From their glass doors to the decor, Olive Garden has a contemporary elegance that extends throughout their interior. You know you’re walking into a Italian restaurant with the smell of cheese and pasta.

Overall, we really enjoyed our food because not only was it delicious, but it was filling too. Also,  we celebrated a birthday within our group and were able to get a free vanilla ice cream with a candle on top. Nice touch.

After prom, we went to Norms on 17th St. and Main. We expected  it to be packed, but were surprised it wasn’t. We were seated immediately and asked what drinks we wanted within five minutes.

We ordered the Clubhouse which was less than $15 including a drink and the Lumberjack breakfast which included: pancakes, hash browns, eggs, and your choice of either sausage or bacon. This was $15 too including the drink. We really enjoyed our meal and felt like for the amount you pay you get some pretty great food.

Remember that you don’t need to spend a lot money. At the end of the day remember to have fun and stay safe at prom.
